Glenda Sue Garcia Obituary
July 28, 1938 - July 27, 2016
Glenda lived her life serving God first, always with a kind and compassionate heart. She was the type of person who would, and did, give someone the coat off her back. Her love for others knew no boundaries and she lived according to the Golden Rule. During her lifetime Glenda worked hard to provide for her family. She was a hairdresser for many years, was the Director of The Hospitality House in Chester from March 1991 to December 1992, caregiver at Three Springs Nursing Home in Chester and Jackson County Nursing Home in Murphysboro and was an ordained minister.

Helen's Obituary
HELEN REGINA CHILDS, 70, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 2:17 pm, Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at her residence.
She was born to the late Lee Eugene and Lorraine (nee Phillips) Baggett on June 7, 1954, in Mobile, Alabama.Helen married Frank S. Childs III on July 17, 1990, in Chester, Illinois; he preceded her in death on January 6, 2012.
She was a wife, mother, sister, grandmother, a friend to many and so much more. If she saw someone in need, she always helped. Her love for others was unwavering. Helen was an amazing homemaker who loved cook and bake. She was a caterer out of her home and also made wedding and birthday cakes for family and friends.
Helen was a kind, sweet and loving servant of God. She served in prison ministry and lead many to Christ. One thing that set Helen apart from most was that she was a servant of Christ. She was a prayer warrior and was rarely spotted without her Bible. She loved to sit outside and enjoy God’s beautiful creation with a cup of coffee while reading her Bible. Helen was a friend to all and just like Jesus, everyone was welcome at her table.

Doris Krull Thompson Obituary
1933 - 16 March 2018
2018 brought sadness to the Hospitality House when our longtime Board member, Doris Krull-Thompson died on March 16, 2018. Doris served on the Hospitality House Board of Directors for eleven and a half years: from May 2005 to November 2016. As a board member, she brought valuable insight, experience, and wisdom to the many decisions and daily operations of the Hospitality House ministry (and homemade brownies to every meeting). This photo is how I remember Doris, always smiling, so full of ideas, always willing to help others.
Doris was born in Sparta, Illinois, in 1933 to Edward and Frances Krull and followed her dream to become a physician. In 1970, she graduated at the top of her medical school class. She cared for patients in seven states and the countries of Haiti, México, and Uganda, before she returned to Sparta and worked at Chester Mental Health Center.
Doris is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Warner and Katherine Umali; her son Edward Thompson; and her grandchildren Isabel and Caroline Umali; and Jonathon, Joshua and Shirley Barbel. A heartfelt service was held for Doris at McDaniel & Lee Family Funeral Home in Sparta on March 24, 2018.
SHERYL MAE WOOLLEY—FORMER HOUSE DIRECTOR DIES Hospitality House Board received the sad news that a former Hospitality House director, Sheryl Mae Woolley of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on September 30, 2022, at the age of 65. She was survived by her husband, Martin Woolley; her son, George Hil- lenburg; three siblings: Jim Haverkamp, Patrick Haverkamp, and Ann Hensley, and her grandsons, Christopher Hillenburg and Brandon Hillenburg. Sheryl Woolley served as house director from Septem- ber 2013 to November 2015. Sheryl’s ministry to Hospitality House guests was greatly appreciated.
